Joining a committee is the best way to let your voice be heard and get behind the positive change in downtown Baker City.

Three Standing Committees

Design Committee

Supports a community’s transformation by enhancing the physical and visual assets that set the commercial district apart. Manages the Court Plaza subcommittee and the Grants subcommittee in partnership with the Outreach & Resources Committee.

Activities throughout the year include various beautification projects - flowers, cornstalks, murals, celebratory window displays, and preservation projects. In 2026 this committee is managing the banners and flower baskets down Main Street, securing new banners for Resort Street, continuing seasonal beautification projects, and will explore various other projects that will help preserve and beautify our historic downtown.

Outreach & Resources Committee

Focuses on capital, incentives, and other economic and financial tools to assist new and existing businesses, catalyze property development, and create a supportive environment for entrepreneurs and innovators that drive local economies. Involves creating a strong foundation for a sustainable revitalization effort, including cultivating partnerships, community involvement, and resources for the district. Manages the Grants subcommittee in partnership with the Design Committee.

This committee is continuing to develop its core activities to highlight business and support our downtown. In 2026, this committee will be continuing the Business After Hours events, addressing vacancies, encouraging business development, organizational development, volunteer management, partnership building, and general outreach and resource sharing.
