During this annual event, participating vendors line the streets of downtown and offer sample size bites of their tastiest recipes in exchange for tokens.

Tokens are available for pre-sale September 20-October 4 at Ryder Brothers, Sycamore Tree, and Charley’s Deli in Baker City, and Elkhorn Media Group in La Grande. Token presales are cash only, 20 for $25 or 100 for $125.

Tokens will also be sold downtown during the event. Event sales are cash or card only, 1 token for $1.25, 20 for $25, or 100 for $125. Menu items range from 1-5 tokens.

Taste of Baker is a cornerstone event for Baker City Downtown. With over 1500 attendees each year, this family-friendly event is enjoyed by locals and visitors alike, showcasing Baker County food and beverage makers.

Other Information

  • Please make checks payable to Baker City Downtown.

  • Mail checks and printed applications to Baker City Downtown, P.O. Box 1148, Baker City, OR 97814.

  • The sooner we have a completed menu of all the tastes, the sooner we can promote the actual menu!

  • Vendors are asked to prepare sample size portions. The fun of Taste of Baker is being able to taste from multiple vendors during the night.

  • Examples of previous menu items are $3 for 3 homemade tots, $2 for 1 prime rib street taco, $1 for 2 oz pasta, $4 for 3 mini cheesecakes, $1 for 4 oz sangria, and $1 for 2 beer tastings.

  • To keep with code, hand washing stations are encouraged… especially if you are not operating in front of a downtown storefront that is open. Washing stations can be as simple as a jerry can with a spigot set up next to your work station.

  • Booth sizes for vendors that are outside of downtown can run from 10'x10' to 10'x20' and will be placed at the discretion of the BCD Promotion Committee.

  • Please plan on providing napkins and garbage cans for your booth.

  • Set up is one hour before, or at the direction of the BCD Promotions committee if more time is needed. We realize that certain vendors may need more time than others to prep their stations.

  • Any vendors selling liquor and not directly in front of their business will have to have a valid TUAL (temporary use of alcohol license) to charge for tastes of liquor.

  • Wooden tokens will be collected the night of the event and counted shortly after. Please do not leave the event without turning your tokens in. Checks will be mailed to vendors no more than 30 days after the event.

We hope to see you there!
